It is not a big secret that I am a huge geek when it comes to gadgets. I simply cannot get enough of them. Often enough when I am just idly surfing around for gadgets, I come across numerous glowing gadgets. Some of them are gadgets that geek wet dreams are made of and I simply cannot get enough of them. Hence, I decided to give vent to some of my feelings and make a quick round up 9 cool gadgets that I really like. Read on for some delicious glowing things.

9. Sun and Moon Jar– This gadget is a special one. Not only does it glow but it is also a green gadget because it sources its power from the sun. Yes, these non-descript looking jars are actually solar powered lights that provide nice ambient lighting at no extra cost to you. Their design makes it easy to leave them outdoors in all kinds of weather. During the day they will utilize the sunlight to make electricity via a solar panel, which is then stored in an onboard battery. When it turns all dark outside, an inbuilt light sensor turns on three low powered LEDs inside the jar. The frosted glass diffuses the light and makes for a great ambience. [via spoonsisters.com]

8. Blade Runner style LED Umbrella – Blade Runner is a cult Sci Fi movie released in 1982 that still inspires people. Without going in to too much detail – it shows a dystopian world where genetically manufactured beings are used for performing dangerous and menial tasks that no one else wants to do. So in a scene we are shown a man carrying an umbrella whose stem was glowing. This has been successfully replicated in a real and fully functional umbrella. Other than the obvious appeal to Blade Runner fans, this umbrella will help make you more visible during dark stormy nights when you must walk back to home. Your glowing umbrella stem will be easily seen by car drivers, thereby lowering the risk of them running you over. [via thinkgeek.com]

7. Wood block clock with blue LEDs – This is an extremely well designed gadget. While it is powered down, it looks just like a boring old wooden brick. When you power it up, you realize that it has a powerful LED clock face behind the wood that glows through the wood to show you the time and temperature. At the back you will find various buttons that can be used to adjust and reset the clock plus a port for the included AC adapter. The only downside that I can see is that it needs constant power to run. [via gadget4all.com]

6. Firefly LED Water Bottle Lid– This has got to the most hi-tech water bottle lid on this planet. But you cannot deny the fact that the idea is simply awesome. This lid has LEDs attached to it that glow through the bottom to light up the entire water bottle. The water in the bottle helps scatter the light, thus turning your boring old water bottle in to a handy lantern of sorts. For obvious reasons, this specific gadget reminds me of the Green Lantern. 5. Magnetic Light Mine– This one is a tiny gadget that it meant to help you out in tight situations. This is the Magnetic Light Mine, called that way because it looks like the typical image of a mine with its round shape and stubs sticking out in all directions. It is smaller than a golf ball and contains one wide angle LED light. It has 12 stubs in total and each stub is tipped with rare earth (Neodymium) magnets. The idea is that you can stick this tiny thing on metal surfaces within a really cramped space and then focus the light on something you are working on. Great utility for those who are working in such conditions like inside a computer cabinet or a hidden chamber filled with NSA files. [via the Daily Giz Wiz]

4. Idea International Vertical Mesh Clock – This is a simple LED clock with a twist. Made by company in Tokyo, this LED clock is actually enclosed within a metal mesh. Thus giving the clock a very futuristic look. The display is vertical, adding to the novelty.

3. LED Shower Light– This one’s for all those who regularly get in to the bath, turn on the shower, only to be soaked in ice-cold water. This gadget takes the all the work out of looking at your taps and feeling the water to see whether it is warm. Once installed properly, this gadget will light up your shower according to the temperature of the water. Blue is for cold and red is for hot, cannot get any simpler than that really. No batteries or anything to install, this one’s powered by the hydraulic pressure of the water inside the pipes. It also regulates the water flow to prevent water wastage, making it a great green gadget. [via thinkgeek.com]

2. Razer Naga – Somehow, glowing things are not complete without mentioning the gadgets meant for gamers amongst us. Razer has long dedicated itself to making gear meant for gamers and gamers only. It has stayed on that narrow path of great design and usability and has recently come up with the Naga. It is a mouse meant for MMOs and has 17 buttons! It also adds extra modules within the MMOs so that you can make use of the combos more efficiently.

1. Alienware Alien FX Cabinet – Maintaining the line of thought that gamers get the best of glowing computer gadgets, I just had to mention Alienware. If anyone takes glowing lights on computers seriously, it is Alienware. Their Alien FX lighting suite has always impressed the hell out of everyone and it totally makes it to the top of my list. Recently they made their special cabinet available without the internals. Thus enabling you to have the futuristic cabinet with parts that you want (or can afford, to be more precise).
